However, he was actually a fraud who stole his spells from an enchanted book called The Spells of Astaroth, which he found in an old bookshop. The Order was led by Professor Emelius Browne ( David Tomlinson), a charismatic but incompetent wizard who claimed to have a direct connection to Astaroth. They also created a magical bedknob that could transport them to any place and time they wished. The Order practiced various forms of magic, including animal transformation, invisibility, and flying. They established a secret society called the Order of Astaroth, named after their patron demon. Pepperinge Eye was founded in the 17th century by a group of witches who fled from persecution in London. ![]() It is the home of Miss Eglantine Price ( Angela Lansbury), a witch-in-training who uses her magic to help the British forces during World War II. ![]() The town is located on the southern coast of England, near the Isle of Naboombu.
